And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to
blossom.
-Anais Nin
Those that know me from Big Girl Bombshell know that this is one of my top 5 favorite quotes.
Today, with the launch of Virtual Web Writer, this is exactly one of those risks. The desire
to become a writer started back in 2005 with my first online article being published and a
journalism class. Here I am 6 years later and re-vamping the dream. Taking risks equals taking
action. Remaining tightly in a bud becomes painful because we become inactive.
Yes!
I am guilty of hiding within the bud, wishing, dreaming and wanting for progress in
my life. The risk of blossoming means opening up to the world of possibilities and taking some
form of action. When I look at it that way, I will have a whole bouquet of achievements, as I
take the action to nourish my ideas with movement. My writing does that for me but as with the
blossoms, there is a time to open and share and there is a time to re-nourish and grow more.
My watering can, often, is quotes. They inspire me to dig deeper into what I think and how it impacts my day to day.
How do you feel about quotes? What does this quote say to you? What is one risk you can take today?

Hi there. I’m sometimes a bit cynical about quotes, but then find myself CONSTANTLY using them in my blog posts. Love Thoreau quotes and the like for example.
I’m very risk averse but know that one has to take some to achieve anything… In some ways I have so little to lose, but in others it feels like I have a lot to lose, which prevents me from taking risks I could / should take.
Congratulations on the risks YOU are taking! What an inspiration!
